Available by prescription only, Cialis® (tadalafil) is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It is also approved to treat enlarged prostate symptoms. The medicine comes in the form of a tablet that can be taken in a couple of ways.
For ED, typically, it is taken one hour prior to sexual activity (the recommended starting dose of Cialis is 10 mg). However, you may take the medication anywhere from 1 hour to 36 hours before sexual activity.
Cialis can also be taken on a daily basis, which means it is taken every day, regardless of whether you plan to have sexual activity. If your healthcare provider recommends daily use of Cialis, the dosage is taken at the same time each day. It does not matter when you plan to have sexual activity if you take it this way. The recommended dosage for daily use is 2.5 mg, although this amount may be increased if necessary.
When used to treat enlarged prostate symptoms, Cialis is taken once a day, every day.
Your healthcare provider will determine the best way to take Cialis based on your particular situation, whether you take other medications, have other medical conditions, and other factors.
