Enzyte Dosage

The standard recommended Enzyte dosage is one tablet daily (taken like a multivitamin). However, it is not known whether this dose is effective or safe. It is important to know that at one point, the manufacturer of the supplement was reprimanded by the FDA because the Enzyte dosing information on the label did not reflect what was in the bottle.

An Introduction to Enzyte Dosage

Enzyte® is meant to be taken every day, much like a multivitamin. The standard recommended Enzyte dosage is one tablet each day. It is not known if this dose is either safe or effective.

Enzyte Dosing Specifics

Enzyte tablets supposedly contain the following active ingredients:

  • Niacin (30 mg)
  • Zinc (30 mg)
  • Copper (4 mg)
  • A "proprietary blend" of the following ingredients:

Each tablet contains 150 percent of the recommended daily value for niacin, 200 percent of the recommended daily value for zinc, and 200 percent of the recommended daily value for copper.

It is impossible to know if the dosages for the "proprietary blend' ingredients are either safe or effective, for two important reasons. First, the exact strengths of the individual ingredients of the proprietary blend are not provided. Second, even if the exact strengths were available, there are no good dosing guidelines for most of these ingredients (as is common with herbal supplements).

More importantly, in the past, the manufacturer of Enzyte was reprimanded by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because the supplement contained less than the labeled amounts of the active ingredients (since the tablets weighed less than the total of the individual active ingredients added together, not even counting the inactive ingredients).
