Horny Goat Weed Drug Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when
horny goat weed is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
High Blood Pressure Medications
Theoretically, combining horny goat weed with a high
blood pressure medicine might increase the risk of dangerously low
blood pressure (hypotension). It is probably best to check with your healthcare provider before using such a combination.
Anticoagulants or Antiplatelet Medications
Theoretically, taking horny goat weed with medications that "thin" the blood may increase the risk of bleeding. At this time, it is not known how significant these interactions may be. Check with your healthcare provider before taking horny goat weed with any of these medications. This is probably most important for potent prescription anticoagulants or antiplatelet medications (such as heparin or
warfarin) and less important for some other medications (such as NSAIDS), although problems are theoretically possible with any medication with "blood-thinning" properties.
It is possible that not every drug interaction with horny goat weed was discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the specific interactions that may apply to you.
