Horny Goat Weed Effects

Horny goat weed (Epimedium) is a flowering plant that is often used in herbal supplements. It is often claimed that sexual problems such as impotence can be treated with horny goat weed. Effects of this supplement may be due to the estrogen-like compounds found in the plant. One of the compounds found in horny goat weed is a phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor, much like Viagra® (sildenafil) and other similar prescription impotence medications.
 
Although most people use horny goat weed for sexual enhancement, some may take it for other purposes as well. The dietary supplement is also claimed to be useful for the treatment of heart disease, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, and other conditions.
