Rare Levitra Side Effects
During clinical studies, some side effects occurred in fewer than 2 percent of people who were taking
Levitra. However, because these side effects are so uncommon, it is difficult to tell whether they are due to Levitra or something else.
In rare cases, people taking medicine (such as Levitra) for
erectile dysfunction have also experienced serious problems that occur in the heart, brain, or blood vessels. These problems include:
Because most of these people had heart or blood vessel (cardiovascular) risk factors, and because the side effects occurred during or shortly after sexual activity, it is difficult to tell the origin of these side effects. Researchers don't know if the problems were related to Levitra, the person's existing risk factors, sexual activity, or a combination of these factors.
There have also been rare cases of a condition called nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) associated with the use of PDE5 inhibitors. This condition can lead to sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
(see Levitra and Blindness).
