Maca Drug Interactions

Maca does not have any known drug interactions. However, you should always tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking (including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, vitamins, or supplements). Even though there are currently no known interactions with maca, it is important to understand that no studies have specifically looked for maca drug interactions. Therefore, there may be drug interactions that could be discovered in the future.

Maca can contain significant amounts of calcium and iron, minerals that can prevent the absorption of a variety of different medications (such as many antibiotics and most thyroid medications). It is probably a good idea to take any other medications at a different time of the day, unless you first check with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any potential drug interactions due to the calcium and iron content of maca.
