Drug Interactions

Staxyn can potentially interact with a number of other medications (see Staxyn Drug Interactions for more information).
 

Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking this medication if you have:
 
  • Heart problems, including chest pain (angina), heart failure, or irregular heartbeats
  • Had a heart attack, stroke, or serious arrhythmia in the past six months
  • Ever had a seizure
  • A history of (or have family members with a history of) a heart problem known as QT interval prolongation, or long QT syndrome
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
  • Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
  • High blood pressure (hypertension) that is not well controlled
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • An eye problem called retinitis pigmentosa
  • A history of vision problems, such as loss of eyesight or an eye problem called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
  • Stomach ulcers
  • A bleeding problem
  • Any problem with the shape of your penis or Peyronie's disease
  • Blood cell problems, such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
  • A history of a painful or prolonged erection that lasted for more than four hours (priapism)
  • A history of hearing problems, including ringing in the ears, dizziness, or hearing loss
  • Phenylketonuria
  • Fructose intolerance
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
     
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, nitrates, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
