Staxyn Warnings and Precautions

Who Should Not Take Staxyn?

You should not take Staxyn if you:

  • Take nitrate medicines, even if you take them infrequently. Taking these medications together can cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure. You must wait at least 24 hours after your last Staxyn dose before you can use a nitrate.

  • Use recreational drugs that contain nitrate, such as amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite (sometimes called "poppers"). Taking these drugs in combination with Staxyn can cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.

  • Have a rare genetic condition that causes fructose intolerance. Staxyn tablets contain sorbitol, an artificial sweetener that can cause the same problems as fructose in people with this condition.

  • Have moderate or severe liver disease.

  • Are on kidney dialysis.

  • Are allergic to Staxyn, Levitra®, vardenafil, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
