Stendra Side Effects

Let your healthcare provider know immediately if you are taking Stendra and develop problems like a sudden loss of vision, an erection that lasts more than four hours, or chest pain. Although reactions such as these are potentially quite serious, most side effects of Stendra tend to be minor. Some of the more commonly reported reactions include headaches, back pain, and a runny nose.

An Introduction to Stendra Side Effects

As with any medication, Stendra™ (avanafil) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Stendra

Stendra has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people given Stendra were documented and compared to reactions that occurred in a similar group of people given a placebo (a "sugar pill" that does not contain any active ingredients). In clinical studies, the most common Stendra side effects included:

  • Headache -- in up to 12.1 percent of people
  • Flushing (a sudden warmth and redness of the face, neck, or upper chest) -- up to 10.1 percent
  • Symptoms of the common cold, such as a runny or stuffy nose -- up to 5.1 percent
  • Back pain -- up to 3.2 percent.

Other common side effects, occurring 1 percent to 2 percent of people, included:
