Stendra Warnings and Precautions

Heart attacks, strokes, and dangerously low blood pressure are some of the potentially dangerous side effects of Stendra. Safety precautions and warnings associated with this drug should be followed to help avoid these and other complications, including drug interactions. Also, you should not use Stendra if you take nitrate medications.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Stendra™ (avanafil) if you have:
 
  • Heart problems, such as congestive heart failure
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension) or high blood pressure that is not controlled (hypertension)
  • Had a heart attack, stroke, serious arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat), or heart surgery in the past six months
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure) or are on kidney dialysis
  • Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
  • A genetic eye problem, including a rare condition known as retinitis pigmentosa
  • A history of vision problems, such as loss of eyesight or an eye problem called nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
  • Stomach ulcers
  • A bleeding problem
  • An abnormally shaped penis or Peyronie's disease
  • Blood cell problems, such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
  • A history of a painful or prolonged erection that lasted for more than four hours (priapism)
  • A history of hearing problems, including ringing in the ears, dizziness, or hearing loss
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
 
You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
