An Introduction to Dosing With Tribulus
It is difficult to recommend a safe and effective dosage for
Tribulus. The best doses have not been scientifically established yet, as is often the case with
dietary supplements. However, some information is available, based on limited information from a few clinical studies.
What Is a Reasonable Tribulus Dosage?
Because dietary supplements do not need to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA,) studies to find the safest and most effective dosages for dietary supplements are rarely performed. Without such studies, only vague "trial and error" information is typically available. Even if good dosing information were available, there may be significant variability of the content, purity, and strength between different brands of the same dietary supplement, making consistently safe and effective dosing difficult.
During one study of Tribulus to enhance athletic performance, a dose of 3.21 mg per kg of body weight (approximately 1.6 mg per pound) each day was used. Another study used a dose of 750 mg per day in combination with various other supplements. However, neither of these studies showed that Tribulus provided any benefit for improving athletic performance.
