How Does Viagra Work?

Viagra works by blocking PDE5. When PDE5 is blocked, more of the chemicals responsible for the erection remain, so the muscles in the penis do not constrict. This allows blood to stay in the penis longer, which allows the man to maintain an erection.

Does Viagra Work Without Stimulation?

Many men wonder if Viagra works without any stimulation. The answer to this question is no. This is because the chemicals that cause an erection need to be released into the penis. These chemicals are released only when a person is aroused. Viagra has no effect on the release of these chemicals. It only keeps the chemicals in the penis longer.

When Does Viagra Work?

Many men wonder, "How long do I have to wait for Viagra to work?" The answer will vary depending on the individual. In clinical studies, Viagra began to work in as little as 14 minutes. For most people, though, it begins working within 30 minutes. Viagra can continue to work for at least four hours; but, on average, the response decreases after about two hours.
